I believe that the frames are
integral to the works. While I have
used commercially available frames
when they support the design, more
often than not I create the frame as
part of the composition.
I have created pieces that float
within a frame as well as those that
float off the wall, their boundaries
defined by the scope of the work
rather than a physical limitation.
When I can find them, I enjoy using
vintage frames on a new work to
bring a sense of history to the piece.

Contemporary Works
As an artist, I am self-developed
(a term I prefer to self-taught)
working in non-traditional media.
I often work with construction
materials such as wood, wire and plaster.
I have also created works using shoe polish,
nail polish, school glue, kraft paper,
fabric softener sheets and aquarium
gravel.
My process involves contemplating
the subject, deciding on technique,
envisioning the final work and
creating the piece from start to finish
with as little interruption as possible.
I create my pieces to take a place of
their own. My works are decidedly
vertical in orientation to require
the viewer to stop, if only visually,
to recognize the work.
